Note for Parents

At Port Edgar we aim to provide a fantastic experience both on and off the water. Our senior watersports instructors are Disclosure Scotland PVG checked and we offer the RYA Safe and Fun Safeguarding course for staff at the start of the season.

In order to help with busy working lives we have our Out of Hours Club during the summer holidays for children aged 8 – 16 years, allowing you to drop off your child anytime from 09.00 and leaving them with us until 17.00 on the day of their course for a small fee of £5.00 per day.

All students are provided with buoyancy aids, waterproofs or wetsuits when appropriate at no extra cost. Should your children have their own equipment they are more than welcome to use it on the course. Our instructors are always happy to help should you require advice on what individuals should wear.

All customers should bring a change of warm clothing, towel and soft-soled footwear (gym shoes or soft sailing wellies), socks and a woolly hat or suncream depending on the weather! If possible children should avoid bringing valuables.

Our changing rooms are single-sex but children and adults share the same facilities. If you have any concerns about this, or if you want to change in the same space as your child who is of the opposite sex, please let us know as our disabled changing room can be made available.

Although we always aim to complete the course syllabus, it is not always possible. Most junior courses are designed so that students are gaining great experience with the possibility of a certificate at the end of the course. With that in mind we aim to keep you informed as they progress throughout the course. Many of the activities on offer have accompanying logbooks to chart progress and, if not included, can be purchased from the Watersports Office. Our Instructors are always available to offer assistance on next steps following any course.

Please complete an online consent form which can be found on your booking invoice for each child before attending.
