For kids aged 8-16 we have something suitable for everyone from RYA Sailing Stages 1-4 as well as our more advanced courses.

All of the RYA stages are supported with a log book which can be purchased from the office, so parts of the syllabus can be ticked off as you progress and record your achievement. So you’ll be sailing through the stages before you know 

A fantastic introduction to sailing, you will have lots of fun while gaining confidence out on the water.  By the end of the 2 days you will be able to rig and sail a boat, understand wind direction, basic boat controls and have the confidence to launch and recover a dinghy

An excellent course that builds upon all of the initial skills covered in Stage 1.  You will learn more about the points of sailing, rigging, launching, tacking and gybing. When you hike out and lean back, as your boat cuts through the water, you’ll really feel the adrenaline rush of sailing.

Following on from doing some sailing after Stage 2, this weekend course helps to develop your single handed skills.  Covering a variety of practical boat control skills, such as man over board, coming along side and picking up a mooring, we will have you speeding along in no time!  And if that wasn’t enough to get your teeth stuck int, we’ll also go over a little theory including tidal information, weather and boat controls.

A week packed full of adventures, this course will help you to develop your single handed sailing skills in our fleet of RS Quba’s while working towards your RYA Stage 3 certificate. This course is ideal for aspiring racers and club sailors who would like to improve their racing skills. Under the guidance of our RYA Racing Coaches you will work on all aspects of racing helping you to progress. If you have your own topper or feva, you’re welcome to bring it along too!

One of the most rewarding of all the RYA courses, we’ll help develop your knowledge of the power zone! Before you know it you’ll be blasting along and gybing with the spinnaker up.

Pre-requisites: Age 12-16  RYA Stage 4 and above

By bringing together the Spinnaker and Performance sailing modules this course develops your boat handling skills and knowledge of how to get the very best out of modern dinghies. The week will include all aspects of spinnaker and trapeze work alongside how to make performance boats go fast. We recommend you have had at least two seasons of sailing after completing the RYA Level 3 Better Sailing course to ensure you get the most from this fun course.

Ages 8-16

Our longest-running club has become something of an institution within Port Edgar. If you’re wanting to move up the stages within RYA sailing, or just want to improve your skills, there’s nothing better than regularly heading out on the water. It’s also a great way to meet new friends; you could even all book on your next course together over the summer.

Session: Saturday Mornings from 09.30-12.00

Ages 10 – 17
Pre-requisites: Dinghy Stage 3 

Dinghy sailing club available to RS Feva sailors so they can continue sailing at a high level to keep their skills up and continue to gain experience on the water

Winter Training Programme – this is a block of 5 sessions from 09.30-16.30 on Saturday 29th October, 26th November, 10th December, 21st January 2023 and 18th February 2023.

RS Feva Training is for anyone under 18 who has completed an RYA Stage 3 or Youth Level 2 course or with equivalent experience, and would like to sail regularly all year round. It will focus on a variety of boat handling skills, manoeuvres and ways to make the boat sail faster and more efficiently.

The sailors who attend the training will be given the opportunity to take part in the national and international race circuits, and will be offered support with kit, travel, and coaching. The training delivered by Port Edgar Watersports will allow sailors to move into the RYA class training programmes and offer opportunities to race around the country.

Sessions will start at 09.30 rigged and ready to go with a 16.30 finish on the following dates

We will  provide you  with a wet suit, buoyancy aid and race ready RS Feva sponsored by JP Watersports. If you would like to bring your own boat we can provide storage for the duration please call us for charges
