Port Edgar Watersports, as a community interest facility, has various social goals that aim to benefit the local community, promote environmental stewardship, and provide inclusive and accessible opportunities for people of all ages and backgrounds. Here are some of the reasons we exist - Click the links to find out more -

Promote Physical and Mental Well-being

We encourage and facilitate water-based activities that promote physical fitness, mental well-being, and overall health. Watersports such as windsurfing, kayaking, paddleboarding, and sailing offer enjoyable and beneficial form of exercise and provides challenges that build character attributes that extend beyond sport.

Provide Inclusive Access

We ensure that the watersports are accessible and inclusive to all, regardless of age, ability, socio-economic background, or ethnicity. Our programs and facilities cater to people with disabilities and provide affordable options for those with limited financial means.

Support Youth Development

We implement programs that focus on youth development, offering opportunities for skill-building, leadership training, and personal growth through watersports. We engage with local schools and community organizations to promote youth involvement.

Foster Environmental Awareness

We educate visitors and participants about the local water ecosystems and environmental issues related to water sports. Encourage sustainable practices, such as eco-friendly equipment, waste reduction, and responsible use of water resources.

Community Engagement and Events

We host and organize community events, workshops, and educational sessions that bring people together, strengthen social bonds, and create a sense of community. These events include marina clean-ups, water safety courses, and community fund raising.

Volunteer and Outreach Programs

We develop volunteer opportunities for individuals and groups interested in supporting the watersports centre’s initiatives. Collaborate with other local organizations to extend the centre’s impact beyond its immediate boundaries.

Skills and Employment Training

We offer skill development and vocational training programs related to watersports and water safety. Providing opportunities to gain certifications and qualifications, potentially leading to employment within the watersports/marine industry.

Encourage Family Participation

We organize family-friendly activities and events that encourage parents and guardians to participate in watersports with their children, promoting family bonding and intergenerational connections.

Collaboration with Local Authorities

We work closely with local government agencies, environmental bodies, and community leaders to address issues related to water quality, safety regulations, and the overall well-being of the local waterways and users.

Impact Measurement and Reporting

We regularly assess and measure the centre’s social impact, including metrics related to community involvement and the number of individuals benefiting from its programs. We publicly share these findings to maintain transparency and accountability.

Every time you spend with us your money enables the centre to grow our reach and allows us to provide sustainable and transformative life changing opportunities to people who would benefit the most.

If you would like to support the work but don’t want to get wet, we welcome you to DONATE any amount to help us continue to grow what the centre can do to help build a better society for everyone.
